Abstract

  1. XYZ is a private company that moves in the production of heavy equipment type wiring harnesses, namely large-sized harnesses for excavator heavy equipment. The study was conducted because of an imbalance of workload between work stations. The study aims to analyze the workload of each section and determine the optimum number of operators. Workload analysis method is used to determine the workload of each operator. Work sampling method is used to get the percentage of productive time. The work sampling results showed that the highest productivity was in the checker section which was 87.6% and the lowest productivity was in the visual part which was 79.1%. The results of the workload analysis show that the checker and predel have workloads above 100% except the visual and finishing parts. The highest workload is in the checker section which is 122.6%. This high workload, if left continuously without any improvement, can have an impact on the physical operator and the quality of the work.The proposal given is a visual part helping the work process of the checker section and the finishing part helping the work process of the predel so the workload on the checker and predel is reduced so that the visual and finishing part can utilize their productive time well. The number of operators in the company remains 13 people (no need to add operators).
