Jig Assembly Design for Knuckle Type 5 Cavity

Abstract

Manufacture industry needs to implement improvement to increase its production quality, quantity and cost reduction. Utilization of special tools in the production process is a common practice to improve productivity. This study aims to design a semi-automated jig for the knuckle assembly process to improve the production rate. The research starts with data collection, brainstorming and data interpretation, design concept, analysis and documentation. We conduct the detailed design in AutoCAD, supported by Solidworks to show the design in 3D and simulate the assembly process. This study resulted in the design of a knuckle assembly jig as a special tool to improve productivity as the tools help operators to assemble five knuckles at a time.
